The Target Centre is a facility that supplements the existing school discipline system. At present students who are removed from the classroom using emergency cover are sent to the Behaviour and Education Sanction Unit (B.A.S.E.). Students who are persistently disruptive, refuse to comply with the school discipline system and are regularly sent to the B.A.S.E, may be referred to the Target Centre.
The Centre is staffed by two members of the Behavioural Team offering provision for students considered to be at risk of permanent exclusion. The Centre will provide a structured and disciplined environment with the emphasis on modifying behaviour rather than simply punishing it.
Targets are set for the students to aim towards and they will be expected to confront and reflect on their behaviour. The aim is to work in partnership with parents and teachers in order to resolve behavioural problems, with the intention of re-integrating the student into normal school life.
