The persistent absence threshold for students is currently 10% and Ofsted will use this threshold in its inspection regime.
The threshold means that any student will be classed as persistently absent when they have missed 38 or more sessions at any point during the academic year, which equates to a little as 5 to 7 days each term.
We realise that some absences through illness are unavoidable and will continue to be authorised when medical evidence is provided. Unauthorised Absence is the main concern
Please be aware that the PA threshold means that attendance BELOW 90% = Persistent Absence.
