From Sunday 21st March, covid-19 on site testing for students will move to home testing. Home test kits will be sent home via students on Friday 19th March 2021 spare test kits will be available from your child’s pastoral base.
Home testing is entirely optional but we would encourage as many of our students to take up this opportunity as possible to support reducing covid-19 cases in both the school and local community. By choosing to administer the test, your are providing your parental consent for the test and as such there is no need to contact us to provide your consent for this.
Taking your Test
We would request that home tests are taken on a Sunday (any time) and Thursday (after school) each week to help us minimise the number of students requiring to self-isolate as a result of a positive test.
Full instructions on how your child should take their test can be found in the leaflet contained within their test kit. Students should now be confident on how to take their tests independently following their supervised testing on site. For students under the age of 11, the NHS have recommended that parents help to administer their child’s test for them.
NHS videos of how to take your test can also be found here;
Reporting your Results
Please report all home test results to the school (positive, negative or void) on the day the test it taken by using the link below;
You should also report your test result to the NHS. Details of how to do this can be found in your test kit.
What if the result is positive?
If the home test appears to show a positive result, the student and their household should isolate immediately. You will then need to book a confirmatory PCR Covid-19 test via the NHS website or by calling 119. The individual testing positive and their household should remain in isolation until the result of this confirmatory PCR test is received, whereupon your requirement to isolate will either by confirmed or withdrawn by the NHS depending upon this subsequent result.
Please ensure you report a positive test result to us immediately to enable us to follow our own track and trace procedures in school.
