Tesco to ban sale of energy drinks to Under-16s from Monday 19th March
In line with other supermarkets nationally, Tesco are banning the sale of energy drinks to the under-16s due to the high levels of caffeine and sugar contained in them. For a long time, Abbeyfield has not permitted students to bring them into school.
The local Tesco has informed us that from Monday 19th March, they will:
- Not sell fizzy drinks to the under-16s (proof of age may be required)
- Permit more than 10 students in the store at any one time; this is the decision of Tesco due to customer complaints.
Please inform your son/daughter of this change if you allow them to visit Tesco stores. From our point of view, students must be inside the school by 8:40 a.m. and that queueing outside Tesco cannot be used as an excuse for lateness.
