Safeguarding
Safeguarding is the name given to individuals and organisations working together to protect and promote the safety and welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
At Abbeyfield School we believe that safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility. We have invested heavily in our safeguarding team, which has 4 staff members who are all without any other additional responsibilities other than to safeguard our students.
This is in addition to a school Social Worker, Counsellors, Educational Welfare Officer (EWO) and Pastoral staff.
All adults who regularly work on our site are required to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check to prevent unsuitable people from working with students. All visitors are closely supervised when on site and will need to sign in with reception. All trips and visits are vetted and checked with a safeguarding check by the safeguarding team.
We are committed to the highest standards in protecting and safeguarding the children entrusted to our care.
We recognise that some children may be victims of neglect, physical, sexual or emotional abuse. Staff working with children are well-placed to identify such abuse and are thoroughly trained.
If you have a concern that a child or children are being harmed, at risk of harm, or you receive a disclosure (intentionally or unintentionally) you must report it to the safeguarding team named below.
