Anti-Bullying Ambassadors

Part of the 'Diana Award', The Anti-Bullying Ambassador Programme provides anti-bullying training to schools and other youth organisations throughout the UK and Ireland. The training aims to give students and staff the skills, practical ideas, knowledge and confidence to effectively tackle bullying in their schools and communities.

Abbeyfield have selected 17 responsible, caring and respected students, who have demonstrated empathy and a natural ability to build and engender good rapport amongst their peer group, to become Anti-Bullying Ambassadors.

Ranging in age and selected from Year Groups 7, 8, 9 and 10, our chosen students have now successfully undergone the extensive training to equip them with the fundamental skills and knowledge needed to deal with all types of bullying within a school environment. Collectively, our team of Ambassador’s main aim is to raise awareness and to prevent and tackle bullying at Abbeyfield school. They are committed to achieving this in a variety of ways that include:

  • Identifying issues relating to bullying before they escalate
  • Offering support and guidance to students who are being bullied
  • ‘Being there’ for people who need them
  • Providing a range of facilities and activities to help prevent bullying
  • Keeping up to date with training opportunities
  • Helping to run events in partnership with other organisations
  • Holding fortnightly meetings to discuss progress and issues that have arisen
  • Keeping the ‘Diana Award’ up to date with their achievements and amazing work
  • Working with Staff, as well as students, to prevent bullying

Our Ambassadors, who are easily identifiable around school by the blue badge they wear on their blazer lapels, underneath their House badge, has a different approach ito achieving their aim.
