Among those celebrating was Jenna, who achieved four A*s in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Further Mathematics.

After impressing Mercedes during a week of work experience, Jenna has secured an engineering degree apprenticeship with the company and is now preparing to take the next step towards a career in engineering.

Her achievement came as provisional results showed substantial improvement across Abbeyfield’s sixth form.

The proportion of academic qualification entries awarded the top A*-A grades more than doubled, rising from 8% in 2025 to 17% in 2026. More than a third of entries, 37%, achieved A*-B grades, while the proportion awarded A*-C increased from 58% to 69%.

Students completing vocational qualifications also achieved strong outcomes, with every entry awarded Merit or above and 90% achieving Distinction or Distinction*. The average vocational grade was Distinction+.

Other students are preparing to pursue ambitious university destinations.

Elsie plans to study Mathematics, Operational Research, Statistics and Economics, known as MORSE, at the University of Warwick.

Former Lead Prefect Oliver is hoping to study Theoretical Physics at Durham University after demonstrating considerable determination throughout his studies. Oliver made an important contribution to school life through his leadership and remained focused on achieving his academic potential and pursuing his interest in physics.

Logan also plans to study Theoretical Physics at Durham University after completing his Mathematics A Level in just one year, while Roksana is preparing to study Psychology at Cardiff University.

The students adapted to considerable change during their time at Abbeyfield, including working from temporary sixth form accommodation during Year 12 while the school’s new Sixth Form Centre was being developed.

Throughout that period, members of the cohort maintained a strong work ethic, supported one another and contributed to school life through leadership, academic enrichment, music and performance.

“Today, Abbeyfield School is celebrating some fantastic results. Our students have demonstrated real determination and ambition, and they should feel rightly proud of their achievements.

During their final year, students benefited from Abbeyfield’s new, spacious Sixth Form Centre, which opened during the 2025/26 academic year. The centre provides a dedicated environment for independent study, collaboration and personal development.

The school’s 2026 Ofsted report recognised the supportive learning environment and positive relationships with staff that help sixth form students grow in confidence and prepare for their next stages. Inspectors also highlighted students’ leadership roles and their contribution to the wider school community.
