Attendance

The importance of attending school

Every minute of every lesson of every day counts. Good attendance and punctuality increase your child’s chances of success. Poor attendance and punctuality will negatively affect your child’s achievements.

Our Attendance Target for all children is no more than 4 missed school days across the academic year (1 day every 2 half-terms plus 1 day for any other absence).

The school gate opens at 8.40am and a free breakfast is available from the DT Base for all children8.00am to 8.25am is additional social time for children to spend with their friends, eat their breakfast or catch up with members of staff.

Your child is expected to attend the Academy every day, on time, arriving no later than 8.40am. If they arrive after morning registration has closed, they will be marked using the code U (an absence code). Being late to school will impact on their overall attendance as a U code counts as one session missed.

More information about 'Absence from School' can be found at the bottom of this page in the Attendance Policy & Guidance section.

Improving School Attendance

We reward students with excellent attendance and punctuality by awarding points and giving weekly, half-termly and end-of-year prizes and special rewards.

It is the responsibility of school and parents/carers to ensure that children attend school to improve their chances of success. The Attendance Team works with families to remove any barriers to attendance by building strong relationships and working together to put the right support in place.
