The Attendance Team all have a vital role to play in ensuring students attend school and therefore reach their full potential.

Mr I Johnstone Attendance Leader - KS3

Mr Johnstone leads attendance at KS3. As part of his work, he is responsible for ensuring that pupils within KS3 are supported to attend well. 

Mr Johnstone joined us in November 2025 following a successful career in Australia. 

Miss D Hewson Attendance Leader - KS4

Miss Hewson leads attendance at KS4. Miss Hewson is responsible for working with all KS4 pupils to ensure they are successful, and that any support required to improve attendance is provided. 

Miss Hewson has worked at Abbeyfield since February 2026, and enjoys working with our pupils. 

Mr S Finan Attendance Coordinator

Mr Finan joined us in 2026 as our Attendance Coordinator. He coordinates the daily first day response programme and supports the team with administration. 

Following successful study at university training in journalism, Mr Finan is really pleased to be able to make a difference to pupils lives in the work he completes on a daily basis. 

Mrs J Howard Attendance Manager 

Mrs Howard joined us in 2026 following a succesful career in education as Teacher and middle leader. 

Mrs Howard loves using her creative and analyitical skills to support pupils and parents. 

Mr J Grantham Assistant Principal 

Mr Grantham is one of the school's Assistant Principals. As part of his responsibilities, he oversees the functions of attendance, punctuality and admissions. Mr Grantham has strategic oversight of attendance at Abbeyfield. 

Mr Grantham has worked within the sphere of school attendance for over ten years and supports the team to ensure that their practice is support-first, cutting edge and increases pupil success.
