The Attendance Team all have a vital role to play in ensuring students attend school and therefore reach their full potential.

Mr I Johnstone Attendance Leader - KS3

Mr Johnstone leads attendance at KS3. As part of his work, he is responsible for ensuring that pupils within KS3 are supported to attend well. 

Mr Johnstone joined us in November 2025 following a successful career in Australia. 

Mrs S Brar Attendance Leader - KS4

Mrs Brar leads attendance at KS4. Mrs Brar is responsible for working with all KS4 pupils to ensure they are successful, and that any support required to improve attendance is provided. 

Mrs Brar has worked at Abbeyfield for a number of years and has many years experience working in school attendance. 

Miss D Hewson Attendance Coordinator

Miss Hewson joined us in 2026 as our Attendance Coordinator. Miss Hewson coordinates the daily first day response programme and supports the team with administration. 

Following successful study at university, Miss Hewson is really pleased to be able to make a difference to pupils lives in the work she completes on a daily basis. 

Mr J Grantham Assistant Principal 

Mr Grantham is one of the school's Assistant Principals. As part of his responsibilities, he oversees the functions of attendance, punctuality and admissions. Mr Grantham manages the school's attendance team. 

Mr Grantham has worked within the sphere of school attendance for over ten years and supports the team to ensure that their practice is support-first, cutting edge and increases pupil success.
